This collection contains letters and documents relating to a dispute between the Warrens and Ebenezer Larkin over payment for Mercy Otis Warren's _History of ... the American Revolution_. In 1811, Warren and her sons brought legal action against Larkin because she had received no payment for the work. In the same year Larkin claimed that of 1500 sets printed, only 624 had been sold. Included are eight letters from Larkin to the Warrens, 1805-1811, discussing sales of the book. Other documents include copies of the original contract for the book, depositions, and accounts. All of this material was probably in the possession of Joseph E. Smith ( - ) of Boston, the Warrens' attorney in the matter.
